Kofuku-ji is a Buddhist temple located in Nara, Japan. It was established in 669 by the powerful Fujiwara family, who played a significant role in Japanese politics and culture during the Heian period. The temple was originally built in Yamashina, Kyoto, but was later moved to Nara due to political reasons.

Kofuku-ji was once one of the largest and most influential temples in Japan, with over 150 buildings spread across multiple locations. However, many of these structures were lost to fires, wars, and natural disasters over the centuries, and the temple's current complex is much smaller than its original size.

Todai-ji is a Buddhist temple complex located in the city of Nara, Japan. It was founded in the 8th century during the Nara period and is considered one of the most significant temples in Japan. The main hall of Todai-ji, called the Daibutsuden, houses the world's largest bronze statue of the Buddha Vairocana, also known as the Great Buddha of Nara.

The temple was founded in 607 by Prince Shotoku, who played a key role in the introduction of Buddhism to Japan. It was originally called Ikaruga-dera, but its name was later changed to Horyu-ji, which means "Temple of the Flourishing Law." The complex includes a large pagoda, a main hall, a lecture hall, and numerous smaller buildings.
