Byodo-in is a Buddhist temple located in Uji, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. The temple is famous for its Phoenix Hall (Hō-ō-dō), a national treasure that is one of the few surviving examples of Heian period architecture.

The Phoenix Hall is a two-story building that features a large statue of Amida Buddha on the first floor, and a smaller statue of the Buddha surrounded by 52 statues of bodhisattvas on the second floor.
