Senso-ji Temple, also known as Asakusa Kannon Temple, is a Buddhist temple located in Asakusa, Tokyo, Japan. It is one of the oldest and most significant temples in Tokyo, with a history that dates back to the 7th century.

According to legend, in the year 628, two brothers fished a statue of the Buddhist goddess Kannon from the Sumida River, and the temple was built on the spot where the statue was enshrined. Over the centuries, Senso-ji has been destroyed and rebuilt many times, most recently during World War II.

The temple complex includes several buildings, the most notable of which is the main hall, or hondo, which houses the Kannon statue that is said to have been discovered in the river.
