Palacio Salvo is a historic building located in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay. It was designed by Italian architect Mario Palanti and completed in 1928. At the time of its construction, it was the tallest building in South America and one of the tallest in the world, standing at 100 meters (328 feet) tall with 27 floors.

La Mano, also known as "The Hand in the Sand" or "Monument to the Drowned," is a famous sculpture located on Brava Beach in Punta del Este, Uruguay. The sculpture was created by Chilean artist Mario Irarrázabal and completed in 1982. It depicts five fingers partially submerged in the sand, and is meant to symbolize a hand reaching out of the earth to represent the helplessness of human beings in the face of the powerful forces of nature.
