The Forteresse Royale de Chinon is a castle located in the Loire Valley of France. It is situated in the town of Chinon, which is about 50 kilometers west of Tours. The castle was originally built in the 10th century by the Counts of Blois to defend their territory against the Normans.

In the 12th century, the castle was expanded and fortified by Henry II of England, who was also the Count of Anjou. The castle became a significant stronghold for the Plantagenet dynasty during the Hundred Years' War. It was later used as a prison during the French Revolution.

Today, the Forteresse Royale de Chinon is open to the public as a museum. Visitors can explore the castle's many rooms and learn about its history through interactive exhibits. One of the most notable features of the castle is its underground tunnels, which were used for secret meetings during the Hundred Years' War. The castle also offers spectacular views of the surrounding countryside from its ramparts.
