The cave is famous for its prehistoric cave paintings, which date back to the Neolithic period, around 8,000-4,000 BCE. The paintings depict a wide range of subjects, including animals, hunting scenes, and religious symbols.

Magura Cave is considered one of the most important prehistoric sites in Bulgaria and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List. The cave is also home to a number of rare and endemic species of bats, making it an important natural habitat.
