Notre-Dame de Paris, also known as Notre-Dame Cathedral, is a famous Gothic cathedral located on the Île de la Cité in the 4th arrondissement of Paris, France. It was built in the 12th and 13th centuries and is considered one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture. Notre-Dame is known for its stunning stained glass windows, ornate sculptures and its iconic twin towers, which are nearly 80 meters tall. The cathedral has a rich history and has been a major tourist attraction in Paris for hundreds of years. It was also the site of significant events in French history, including the coronation of Napoleon Bonaparte as the Emperor of France in 1804. On April 15, 2019, a fire caused significant damage to the cathedral's roof and spire, but restoration efforts are underway to restore it to its former glory.
