Qalhat is an ancient port city located on the eastern coast of Oman, in the Ash Sharqiyah region. The city was once a major center for trade and commerce in the Indian Ocean region, and its prosperity is evident in the impressive ruins that still stand today.

The city was first settled in the 3rd century CE and became a prominent center of trade and commerce during the 13th and 14th centuries CE, with merchants from all over the world visiting its bustling port. It was also a center for Islamic scholarship and home to several prominent scholars and saints.

The ruins of Qalhat include the remains of a large fortified wall, the ruins of several palaces and mosques, and the mausoleum of Bibi Maryam, which is one of the most famous landmarks of the city. The mausoleum is a beautiful example of Islamic architecture, with intricate carvings and geometric designs adorning its walls.

In addition to its historical significance, Qalhat is also known for its natural beauty. The city is situated near the foot of the rugged Hajar Mountains, and visitors can enjoy stunning views of the mountains and the sea from several vantage points in and around the city.
