 Royal Palace of Godollo
Royal Palace of GodolloThe Royal Palace of Gödöllő is a Baroque palace located in the town of Gödöllő in Pest county, Hungary. It was originally built in the 18th century as a summer residence for the Habsburg dynasty, and was later used by the Hungarian royal family as a residence and hunting lodge. Today, it is a popular tourist destination and is open to the public as a museum.
The palace was designed by András Mayerhoffer and was completed in 1760. It features a central building with two wings, and is surrounded by a large park. The interior of the palace is decorated with ornate Baroque and Rococo-style furnishings, including frescoes, crystal chandeliers, and marble statues.
The palace was a favorite residence of Emperor Franz Joseph and his wife, Empress Elisabeth (also known as Sisi), who spent many summers there. During their visits, the palace was the site of many important political and cultural events, including visits from foreign heads of state and performances by famous artists.
Today, visitors to the Royal Palace of Gödöllő can explore the palace's many rooms and galleries, including the royal apartments, the Empress Elisabeth Memorial Museum, and the Palace Chapel. The palace also hosts a variety of cultural events throughout the year, including concerts, theater performances, and art exhibitions.
