Somapura Mahavihara is an ancient Buddhist monastery located in Paharpur, Bangladesh. It was built during the 8th century AD and is considered one of the largest and best-preserved Buddhist monasteries in South Asia. The complex covers an area of over 27 acres and includes a central courtyard surrounded by monastic cells, meditation halls, and other structures.

Somapura Mahavihara was a center of Buddhist learning and was visited by scholars from far and wide. Its architecture and design show the influence of Indian, Tibetan, and Southeast Asian styles and demonstrate the cultural exchange and religious tolerance that was present during that time. The site was rediscovered in the 20th century and has since been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site.
